BURZA CYTOKINÓW autor M. Błaszkowska
The Cytokine Storm is a painting inspired by the life, work and death of the director of the Shakespearean Theater, Jerzy Limon. Its story coincided with two events: preparations for the staging of Shakespeare's "The Tempest" and with the illness and unexpected death of SARS-CoV-2, the direct cause of which was a storm cytokines.
It is responsible for the majority of deaths during Covid-19, which is when the immune system reacts violently to an infection caused by the virus. Hypercytokineemia is an overreaction of the system to pathogens. Cytokines are proteins that stimulate other cells of the immune system to defend themselves. When a "storm" occurs, instead of helping us, they lead to the self-destruction of the organism. The organism, in an act of desperation, attacks itself, leading to a quick death. It is a sabotage action encoded in our bodies.
The apocalyptic vision of something we cannot see causes us to self-destruct and die.
Fascinating.
